John Tatum - Owner/Teacher
You're in good hands with the teaching staff at Brookstown. John Tatum has taught at UNCG, Forsyth Technical Community College, the Downtown Middle School, and private lessons.

John has played for years all over the region and has the expertise you look for in a master teacher of guitar, bass, banjo & mandolin. You can learn more about his musical background at his website. His band, the Promise Breakers, has opened for bands like the Allman Brothers and Foghat. The foursome has produced two CDs and is working on a third.

About the Store

Owner John Tatum, has been a local music man for many years. He has owned and operated several other stores since 1980 including John’s Guitar Shop in Mt. Airy. When friend Sam Moss, closed Sam Moss Guitars in 2002, John saw this as an opportunity to continue Sam’s legacy of local, personal service. The two had worked and played together for many years. John first began playing guitar at age 8. He played bluegrass for several years and later developed an affinity for the blues. John is a skilled instructor in acoustic and electric guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin. He teaches folks of all ages, from the beginner to the experienced musician.
